Necon Rundown...

Rundown, lowdown, I know not from whence I doth speaketh...

LAST MONTH I attended the infamous Camp Necon, my 3rd year so far...

One of these years, I hope to an rate Air conditioned room. I was also fortunate enough to rate, for the second year in a row (thank you) a spill-over room, what the other residence and I affectionately took to calling the NoseBleed Section. These were rooms that were on Campus, in the second quad, and would have been great rooms had Camp Necon actually taken place on campus. A vast improvement over last years NoseBleed Section, which I won't even get into. (Although remind me to tell you about the Raining Daddy Long-Legs, it's an amusing story...)

In addition to a better room, this year went better than last year. I left feeling I hadn't alienated or creeped out more people than in years past., (by "creeped out" ...it's a Horror-Writers Convention, so that would be "creeped out" in a not-so-good way.) I like to think I even mended a few mis-steps from last year. I had a GREAT time, drank less

On a professional level, it's a mixed bag. Sales were down from previous years, due to a plethora of reasons, but I'll go with "the economy". Otherwise, it was worth it, as always. I got plenty of opportunity to talk with, and share ideas with both Jill Bauman and Steve Gilberts. Two of my favorite artists in the genre, who are both very generous with information on techniques. Once again, I left a better artist than when I arrived, which is priceless. Also Jill expressed interest in Postmortem Productions make some T-shirts of her art. How does it get better than that?? It don't.
