HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I always get excited about the end of a year, and the start of a new. 2007 was a very good year for me (by my accounts) and 2008 looks promising.

2007:

Started an odd niche of painting on Native American Ceremonial Drums (I'm on my 5th one now)

Began on the road to what I hope to be a Business Degree (3.0 so far)

My first Horror-Find Weekend Art Show

Cryptopedia came out (w/my work in it)

Necon happened (always something to celebrate!)

The Terror Fantasy Art show

Postmortem Prod. had a strong year...

2008:

I have a class starting on Jan. 9th about writing Comic books (more in it's own entry)

A SLEW of New Designs for Postmortem Productions chomping at the bit to be released

Necon is happening again! (I just wanted to say that...)

Those are the CONFIRMED hapenings, I don't want to mention other things that look good and likely, but not definate. 2008 here we come!

Update

The Terror Fantasies Art Show is over, it was a rousing success. It appears "Nacht der Geist" (one of my most popular pieces) was a big hit. I sold the Original, and completely sold out of prints. I have one picture from the show, I need to resize it before I can post it.

The semester ended on the Business Class I was taking, I just got my grade, (3.0) I'll take it. Checkmark step one to getting my business degree. I think I scored extra points from the instructor by making a sale during my end of term presentation. (hehe!)

I just embarked on Native American Drum painting #5. This one is commisioned, as opposed to making it and selling it as previously. The painting will be a Siberian Husky dog, with a Polar Bear in there somewhere. I have ideas, but it's not completely worked out yet.

That's all for now, I PROMISE to be better about keeping this thing updated. I just need to stop wasting time argueing on other sites/blogs with morons...

THE CRYPTOPEDIA: A Dictionary of the Weird, Strange, and Downright Bizarre
by Bram Stoker Award winner Jonathan Maberry and David F. Kramer
Citadel Press, $16.95 / 320 pages / ISBN-13: 978-0806528199

At the edge of the known world, demons, monsters, and baffling phenomena abound. To help you navigate this mystery-shrouded realm where the supernatural mingles with the paranormal, fright-guides Jonathan Maberry and David Kramer present their indispensable follow-up to Vampire Universe. Witty and comprehensive, The Cryptopedia divides the otherworldly into chapters that explain the inexplicable, from angels to poltergeists to UFOs and more. Leaving no Philosopher's Stone unturned, the authors decode occult symbols, demystify the art of fortune telling, and discuss the myriad strange and bizarre forces at work in the universe. Illustrated throughout, this is an invaluable guide to the Larger World. Don't leave this plane of existence without it!

Can't Beat the Drums...

I am a terrible Blogger, I realize that...

Native American Drum-making Master Paul Feuse (a.k.a Buffalo Wolf) , and I are collaborating on an ongoing series of ceremonial drums that will be available to the public. Paul was taught the skill of drum-making by his Grandfather, many years ago, in the authentic Traditional Native way. He skins his own hides using all-natural eco-friendly methods & substances (I loathe to even call them "chemicals"), honoring the Old Ways for a time-honored quality that is almost unique in todays "mass produced" world.

Paul puts much of his Spirit into the things he makes, and up until recently, made drums other items exclusively as gifts or for special Ceremonial Occasions.

He says he has seen that I put such Spirit into my artwork, and has chosen me to paint images on his drums, and I consider myself honored.

3 have been completed so far, pictures will be posted as soon as available.

What I've been up to....

Eye Currumba! Things have been busy, and I'm a happy guy...

I have an illustration that will appear in Apex Digest #10 for the story by Lavie Tidhar, I've been told it's some of my best work yet. Must have been inspired because the story was so darn good! Check it out yourself and be the judge...

I have been selected to illustrate the third installment of Geoffrey Girard's "Cain XP11" serial. Which will appear in Apex Digest #11. If you have not been reading this, you really should...

I just recently finished a sign-painting job for Jewelry by Victoria (owner Victoria Flaherty), an amazing handmade jewelry shop in Ogunquit Maine.

There is indeed more, but they involve bears, animals hides and the beating of drums... it's coming....

The newst thing I am excited about...

I just in the mail recieved (is that even english??) my 3D portrait of Hal(C)low(N)een by Chad Savage recently made available from Haunted Portraits. IT'S WAY COOL!!! I can't wait to hang it in my office, which will have to wait until after The Children have seen it. Daughter #1 I expect to love it, Daughter #2 is a toss up. She hates clowns, but loves EVIL clowns (go figure, she's my kid), but this is 3D, so it may freak her out regardless. We shall see...

Another exciting aspect: It's from a limited edition of 250, so each one is numbered. I mention this because I got number 13... to my mind, almost as cool as the picture itself... and that's no small amount of cool....
